After 11 years as Head of Centre at Kulturprinsen - Development Centre for Child and Youth Culture - Ulla Voss Gjesing has decided to step down from her position as Head of Centre as of 1 August 2023. However, Ulla Voss Gjesing will remain at Kulturprinsen as a senior consultant, while Project Manager at Kulturprinsen Camilla Høg will take over as acting Head of Centre.

Ulla Voss Gjesing says: "After 35 years in management, I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life and getting back on the floor where children and artists interact with pedagogues and teachers. I thrive best in the aesthetic processes where the light in the eyes and the energy in the room is saturated. So I'm looking forward to getting closer again."

According to Kulturprinsens board leader Lone Belling, Ulla Voss Gjesing has been a major contributor to Kulturprinsen over the past 11 years: "Under Ulla Voss Gjesing's leadership, the independent institution Kulturprinsen has consolidated itself as a development centre for children's cultural practice locally in Viborg municipality, regionally, nationally and internationally in EU partnerships. Ulla Voss Gjesing is the creator of Kulturprinsens's largest project to date, LegeKunst. The project focuses on promoting play and education among the youngest children, their pedagogues and leaders in close collaboration with artists and cultural institutions. The project is funded by Nordea-fonden with more than DKK 27 million over 4 years. Developing and realising this task is an achievement that continues to spread ripples and create change throughout the country."

These efforts have been seen and recognised; most recently, Kulturprinsen has received a one-year operating grant of DKK 2 million from the Ministry of Culture's distribution funds for the dissemination of collaborations across cultural forms between daycare centres and schools, professional cultural mediators, artists, art and cultural actors as well as research and educational institutions throughout Denmark. And when the Danish Parliament's Culture Committee invited to an open hearing on increasing the well-being and education of children and young people through art and culture, it was with PlayArt in focus.

Kulturprinsens's board of directors has chosen to appoint project manager Camilla Høg as centre manager. Camilla Høg has several years of experience with management in the cultural world, including as event manager in Katuaq - Greenland's national cultural centre. Together with the Kulturprinsens board, she will spend the coming time setting new strategic benchmarks for Kulturprinsens's work as a national development centre for children's culture in the short and long term.

"In the board, we have had no doubt that Camilla Høg is the right person to take over the leadership of Kulturprinsen after Ulla Gjesing has chosen to continue as a senior consultant from 1 August. In her work as project manager for LegeKunst, Camilla Høg has shown that she is both a strong communicator with a clear strategic view and that she has a distinct sense of relationship-building collaboration. Key competences that the board looks forward to her unfolding in her new position" says best board manager Lone Belling.
