A regional development project on the potential of art in school education on sustainable development, citizenship and democracy

The ART ON TV project will develop and test methods for how art in schools can awaken children and young people's creativity, imagination and curiosity about the world's global challenges and opportunities.

During 2021, school teachers, educators and PLC supervisors from schools across the Central Denmark region will be invited to participate in a joint development seminar and three local workshops, where ideas for practical workshops in schools will be developed in equal, interdisciplinary collaboration with professional artists. The practical sessions will take place in the school during week 36, 2021. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and 17 Sustainable Development Goals will provide the thematic framework for the sessions. The project is primarily aimed at middle and secondary schools.

MUTUAL COMPETENCE BUILDING THROUGH GUIDANCE AND FACILITATION
The focus of ART ON TV is to improve the quality of children and young people's encounter with art and culture in school. The involvement of professional artists in an equal, interdisciplinary collaboration with school teachers will ensure a mutual increase in competence for both parties. Teachers will be enriched with new experiences in how artistic and creative activities can support and develop daily teaching. Artists will gain useful insights into teachers' didactic and pedagogical workflows and methods, which can enhance pupils' enjoyment of encounters with art and culture.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO JOIN? 

• Each municipality participates with 1-2 schools - there is no cash co-financing from the municipality
• Each school puts together a team of two classes and at least two associated teachers
• Each participating school will be assigned an artist who will be paid by the project
• The school must finance hours for seminars, workshops, planning and practical courses within its own framework
